Bellows Falls, VT
Charlie Hunter is a cheerful guy who paints drippy portraits of decaying American infrastructure in Bellows Falls, Vermont.
MessageI really love painting railroad crossing gates, I think because they are ubiquitous, usually unnoticed and have wonderfully geometric shapes. There is also almost a code to reading images of them; subtle changes over the years pin the timeless archetype to a specific era. This one is from Northampton, Massachusetts in the late 1950's or early 60's.
