Charlie Hunter is a cheerful guy who paints drippy portraits of decaying American infrastructure in Bellows Falls, Vermont.
MessageThe unique cruciform buttresses and remarkably defined shadows are what initially caught my eye on this church south of Albuquerque. Construction began in 1879, but was, according to the parish website, likely delayed by floods, particularly the disastrous inundation of 1884 that flooded Peralta, Valencia, and Tomé "to the tops of the trees." The church was finished in 1888, but not officially dedicated until 1892.
