This artwork is based on a ten-fold geometric pattern from Humayun’s Tomb, Delhi (c. 1570),
documented by David Wade (IND 0208) and executed with traditional ruler-and-compass
precision. Interlocking stars and polygons, edged in fine gold, guide the eye in a rhythm of
focus and pause. The palette moves from cool greys, whites, mauves, and pale greens above
to warm ochres, terracotta, and earthy browns below, tracing the fading of day and the slow
passage of time. The interplay of matte gouache and luminous gold transforms geometry
into a visual meditation on change, rhythm, and light. Rooted in historical tradition yet
reinterpreted through contemporary sensibility, the work reflects meticulous craftsmanship
and a contemplative engagement with the principles of geometric art.
