The painting reflects the spiritual journey between two stations known as maqam as two
levels of patterns are combined into one painting. The patterns are inspired by the
Mausoleum of Baha' al-Din Naqshband in Bukhara, Uzbekistan. It features six-fold symmetry
and dual hexagonal grids, creating nine- and twelve-pointed stars. The number six symbolises
perfection and heaven, representing the six periods of creation in major religions and the
cosmos in ancient Greece. The twelve-pointed stars denote a yearly cycle and completeness,
while the nine-pointed stars symbolise wisdom and profound truths
