I live deep in the forest surrounded by natural springs whose water ultimately trickles into the ocean. With abundant fuel, it’s also a place that hosts wildfire. Smoke billows into space while steam rises from settled, warming bodies of water. Through paint made from collected ash and water, I can behold the ephemeral transformation of matter into atmospheric particles. The sky has a new layer.
