Chamber pot, 11.5 x 10.5 x 7.5 inches. Brown transfer with polychrome clobbering and gilding. Printed maker's mark for Dunn, Bennett & Co. This floral pattern features branches of blooming lilac placed around the body and lid of the chamber pot. The handles and rims are decorated with a thin line of gilding.
Dunn, Bennett & Co. was a manufacturer of earthenware and ironstone at a number of sites, originally in Hanley and then, from 1886, in Burslem, Staffordshire. Established in 1876 by William Dunn and his son-in-law William Wood-Bennett. Dunn, Bennett & Co manufactured earthenware and ironstone for both the home and American markets. Around 1908 it was incorporated as a limited company.
