Plate, 6 inches diameter with piecrust crimped edges. Blue transfer with gilding. Printed maker's mark for Dunn, Bennett & Co. This floral pattern fills the entire plate, with large poppies, buds, and leaves dominating one spray of much smaller white flowers. There is a gold spatter around the edge of the plate.
Dunn, Bennett & Co. was a manufacturer of earthenware and ironstone at a number of sites, originally in Hanley and then, from 1886, in Burslem, Staffordshire. Established in 1876 by William Dunn and his son-in-law William Wood-Bennett. Dunn, Bennett & Co manufactured earthenware and ironstone for both the home and American markets. Around 1908 it was incorporated as a limited company.
