Lidded dish, 8 x 2 inches. Blue transfer. Printed maker's mark for Dunn, Bennett & Co. The inclusion of "England" in the mark dates this piece to c. 1891+. This floral pattern features a crisscross trellis covered in roses. The sides of the dish are decorated with two small sprigs of flowers.
Manufacturer of earthenware and ironstone at a number of sites, originally in Hanley and then, from 1886, in Burslem, Staffordshire. Established in 1876 by William Dunn and his son-in-law William Wood-Bennett. Dunn, Bennett & Co manufactured earthenware and ironstone for both the home and American markets. Around 1908 it was incorporated as a limited company.
