I really enjoy painting the human figure - both traditional portraits and expressive representations - as well as old, rusted cars and shiny, restored cars too! Ultimately I just like to paint, enjoy getting caught up in watching something emerge on the canvas - sometimes while listening to music and sometimes in silence. I want to create things people will enjoy and that will brighten their home or office - capture a moment in time, a memory, or create an escape or provoke and inspire thought.
My art is most often comprised of bold, vibrant colors and brush strokes on stretched canvases. I like intense, saturated colors and taking the existing colors of whatever I paint and really punching up the intensity. The bold colors really grab your attention and create a stronger interaction with those who view it. And it can also add mystery or intrigue to the subject matter and accentuate its character.
I have always been interested in art. I graduated from college with an Art Marketing Degree and began working as a graphic designer and creative director shortly after that. While working as a graphic designer, I continued painting, creating several different series, including "Places" in 2002 and "Shoes" in 2004 and most recently, a Figurative group - always painting!
Now I work on my own as a freelance graphic designer and fine artist, doing commissioned portraits and car paintings as well as other painting subjects. I always have the wheels turning thinking of what I can create next.
