As well as admiring and engaging with the planting in the gardens, I also enjoy the man-made structures of pots, allotment patch structures, furniture and fencing.
This artwork focuses on mainly metal elements. Each clay plaque was taken wet to a Woburn garden. I then impressed the clay onto the structure trying to get an even pressure to ensure enough detail was being captured without distorting the plaque shape too much. After a few days the plaque was completely dry. To enhance the impressions and marks, I applied a special foil to the surface and graphite powder was carefully applied. The plaque was sealed with varnish.
