Abstract acrylic mixed media artwork on paper, finished with archival matt varnish and then a wax medium.

The inspiration for this piece and its partner 'Meet The New Day' is not how I usually work, however I enjoyed the process immensely. I challenged myself to enter a competition where I had to create an artwork in response to a piece of music. I chose New Day by Lyra, you can imagine this music was on repeat in the studio for weeks!
My art is often multi-layered, applying many applications of paint or mixed media. I realised that the building blocks for these artworks were me again thinking in layers, breaking down the music into elements of dynamics, repetitions, movement, blending, definitions, opposites; beats, tones and vocals.
I chose to represent the music in two halves -
The underpinning low, dark, solid, strengthening, building beats progressing into the pulsating, rising, quickening, brightening, with more light and voice of optimism at the end.

The artwork on paper was bonded to board and professionally framed in black wood.
This piece is unglazed to allow the textured surface to be accessed.
Signed on the back with a Certificate of Authenticity and ready to hang.
