This is one of the paintings I did this summer for my senior show that was in September. This painting started out with a masonite panel that I cut and gessoed. One night I came home from work and I went on the back porch at golden hour and saw my mom’s flowers. The purple and orange light and shadows were gorgeous. After I took my refernce photo I drew it out with a red checking pencil so it would not pollute my paint. After I sketched it out I went in with my painter’s knife and broke everything into a light plane and a shadow plane. As I organized my lights and shadows I overcolored the notes so when I would go to dull them I would not lose the effect of light.
