There is this farm along Pleasant Valley Road in Cambridge Vermont that is hidden from view spring through autumn. Even in winter it’s hard to see except for one small opening from a neighbors driveway. I’ve been wanting to paint this farm for years but it was not until this past winter that I felt I could get enough of a view to make it work. Even then I had to eliminate some overhanging tree branches to let the farm breathe. I like this little farm in part for the old overgrown roadway that leads to it along the right side of the painting and imagine the time when horse drawn wagons were to primary mode of travel to and from the farm barns to the surrounding fields.
