Every landscape artist in the northeast will tell you that Summer poses a particular challenge. Everything, everywhere is green. It can be challenging to render all those greens into a pleasing painting. I decided it was time to take that challenge. Working from photographs in the dead of winter it offered a nice escape from the cold. Light and shadow play a big part in differentiating all those similar hues, but finding the warm and cool differences in color is key to creating something that is more than a mass of undifferentiated color.
