Artist notes: Intrigued by the textures, shapes and rhythms, I let them have their way on the painting surface while still allowing a small amount of room for a few figurative details in the foreground. This painting is more about hearing and feeling first and then letting my eyes find the shapes and colours that connect to the other senses. When I stepped back, I couldn’t help myself from thinking about artists Giorgio Morandi, Georgia O'Keeffe, Lois Dodd and Maureen Gallace. It is the power of shape over form while still painting from life that this and these paintings have in common.
