“Laced” a representation of life in 2025 digital art and how she looks on the wall. Yes, the artwork I create is from my perspective, aging, with the world around me and currently that world is impacted by the rise of white supremacy and violent rhetoric. My work continues to spring from my experience as a woman, lesbian, aging in U$S$A culture. “Laced” is about the impact, the potential fracturing of the soul. It is also about lacing up to move forward to embrace the beauty of art and our existence. My work will continue with the themes I began ten years ago focused on using my aging self portrait which I redefine with conscious editing as I create and reshape my face.
“Laced” takes her place in the catalogue of images within the “Portrait of a Woman “ project. Created as digital image using my aging face, the piece conveys the female aging experience in all its glory, strength and despair. The work in the project is available as canvas, paper, metal, collaged assemblages and mixed media pieces. The imagery travels along a range of quiet and contemplative to bold and loud.
