The History of the Rule of Law is a series of oil paintings chronicling the evolution of law in western civilization. These works grace the walls of the Rule of Law Gallery, located on the 11th Floor of the building, with the story beginning in the southwest corner and continuing clockwise around the room. The six 4-by-8 paintings created by artist Ron Anderson are on permanent loan from the Ohio State Bar Association.
Draco, Coder of Law and the Twelve Tables of Roman Law is the second painting in the series. This painting featured Draco, the first recorded legislator in Ancient Greece. On the right, it depicts a scene of senators standing in a circle in deep discussion while guards haul away men on the left. The Twelve Tables of Roman Law are visible in the background on the right.
