William Henry Harrison (Feb. 9, 1773 - April 4, 1841), the ninth president of the United States from February 1841 to April 4, 1841, was born in Virginia. In 1799, Harrison was elected the first Northwest Territory delegate to the U.S. Congress. He went on to serve in Congress and in the Ohio Senate from 1816 to 1828. In 1840, he was elected to the U.S. presidency, but served only slightly more than a month before dying of pneumonia in Washington.
