Last summer, I hiked near a roaring waterfall in Estes Park, Colorado—the kind carving a path down the mountain with raw force. Back in my studio, I wanted to capture the feeling of being there: intense sunlight, thin air, the physical presence of that water.
To do that, I shifted the natural colors—sky, trees, rocks—to their complementaries. The result is less about what I saw and more about what I felt.
