Through a brief glimpse while on a boat ride, I spied Spray Falls, a landmark waterfall in the Michigan Upper Peninsula. Once back in my studio, I took some creative liberties depicting the landmark, in order to see what developed. With fluorescent colors and cool rhythmic linear brushwork, the image began to feel nocturnal, foreign, as if the waterfall and its rock formation were a portal to someplace undiscovered.
