The Intricate Designs of Life
- Acrylic on Earthernware
- Bridgette Dunn
The definition of pattern according to the Oxford Dictionary is "a repeated decorative design" - a definition that I believe is undervaluing the complex nature of pattern in our everyday life and diminishes the artistic potential of such a fundamental principle of art. I intended to capture the complexity and simplicity of pattern that we encounter every day of our life.
Inspired by the sculptures of Ai Xhan and the street art of Lucas Grogan, this bust in a link between the two worlds of sculpture and design. The celebration of pattern and the simple idea of repetition juxtaposed with the intricate designs we experience in our lives.
