Painted on location in Fraser River Canyon in British Columbia, Canada enroute north, back to Alaska in Spring of 1989. Intending to stop along the way and do small 8x10 paintings. Fresh out of Seattle, where the artist saw an exhibition by a contemporary American Indian artist with work referring to spirits of the earth speaking, the first stop northbound was here in Fraser River Canyon. And there on the mountain side were these faces....which now could not be ignored. Therefore, this painting, the first to be added to the ongoing Alaska Canada Highway Series, even though, technically, this was not yet on the official AlCan Highway yet.
