“My goal is to create doorways that invite the viewer to step into the photo and experience it. I hope the viewer can gasp with awe at the immensity of the night sky, feeling the cool breeze, smelling the soil and weeds on the night air, and hearing the insects chirping, thus appreciating the dignity and beauty of this barn. These weathered barns will soon be nothing but history — this one itself no longer stands.”

Pat Hansen sees hindsight as a great teacher, recognizing that too often we don’t realize the beauty and significance of a moment until it is gone. Her photos seek to save moments for those who experience them so they can later realize the importance of those times. She also aims to capture moments for those who will never experience them because that place, that time, is gone forever.
