“My goal is to create doorways that invite the viewer to step into the photo and experience it. I hope the viewer can feel the cowboy’s tension as he prays for a safe ride on his draw for a bucking bull. Our Western roots run throughout our culture like a thread connecting animals and people. It is this thread that pulls the viewer into the photo with the cowboy, also hoping and praying for his safety.”

Pat Hansen sees hindsight as a great teacher, recognizing that too often we don’t realize the beauty and significance of a moment until it is gone. Her photos seek to save moments for those who experience them so they can later realize the importance of those times. She also aims to capture moments for those who will never experience them because that place, that time, is gone forever.
