“My inspiration comes from the land, prairie, and nature. This barn, silo, and other buildings were built by my great grandparents when they homesteaded in the 1870s southeast of Sioux Falls. I find it challenging and exciting to use effects only watercolor can produce, using colors that may not be typical for a particular subject, but rather a stylized interpretation. Wildflowers are still found on that hillside, along with indentations of former buildings.”
