“Lakna is a Choctaw stallion at the Black Hills Horse Sanctuary. Only 300 Choctaw ponies are left in the world. Inscribed over the painting is an Indian story of a trader called Little Crow. The story starts in the center and spirals outwards to the end. I have a strong attraction to warmbloods and European horses because of the power they convey that contrasts the softness in their eyes. Sometimes the background becomes part of the horse and the horse emerges from the canvas.”
