“The setting of this painting is Cold Brook Canyon Trail, Wind Cave National Park in the Southern Black Hills. Mountain Bluebirds are abundant in this area. The pine is depicted in a symbolic interchange with its environment. This piece is part of my Metaphysical Landscapes series, a collection of paintings that often reveal both the seen and bits of the
unseen -- dealing with connections, cycles, and relationships in the natural world, inspired by the great beauty and diversity of the Black Hills of South Dakota.”
