Watauga Point passed Wilbur Dam in Tennessee was the chosen en plein air sight today for the "Just Plein Nuts" group. The wispy clouds just above the mountains made for great inspiration and I tried to recreate that feeling. All the beautiful, soft grey and lavender colors against the blue-violet and green mountains that are starting to make the colors for our autumn made for an awesome transition between the simple backlit clouds. I toned the entire canvas with different shades of blue and grey then using varying amounts of raw umber to obtain the warmth of the closer clouds and radiant violet to create the depth.
