Joe and I decided to make a couple of plein air stops to paint when we traveled to the Bascom Center for Visual Arts in Highlands, NC to deliver my juried painting, "A New Dream" for the PLACE exhibition in July 2022. This painting was the first stop along the banks of the Cullasaja River on the Gorge Road. It was a pretty steep climb down to the place I found to paint but it was well worth it. Joe serenaded me with his guitar while keeping the beat to the sounds of the rushing waters. It was loud and echoing throughout the painting process and thus inspired this work. So naturally I titled it The Sound of Rushing Waters and hopefully you can hear what heard as you view this piece. That, after all, is what I try to convey in my paintings. Please let me know in the comments if you can hear the waters too!
