“Portrait of Corbett is one in a number of such works during recent years. The subject matter involves portraits of my grandfather, emphasizing images of him during his latter years while in hospitals, rest homes, institutions, etc. Corbett’s slow demise with little or no dignity left me with a feeling of great helplessness, coupled with a sincere sense of compassion. I was very puzzled with the situation and did not know how to respond other than to care a great deal and express my feelings in prints and drawings.”
