“Mod Girl with Glasses, a bronze was made directly from life, first in clay, and then cast by the artist in polyester resin. This cast had silver-leafed boots and glasses. The model was a student at Wellesley College. The work was done initially as a study for a life size figure that was begun but never completed. The year it was made, I was on sabbatical on a National Endowment for the Arts grant. I view Mod Girl with Glasses as a successful sculpture and a strong echo of the youth of the 1960’s, Vietnam protests, etc.”
