ONYX AND BELGIUM BLACK MARBLE
From the Realism in Stone series, this sculpture transforms the iconic Bombay Sapphire bottle into a meticulously carved form of natural onyx. Antar preserves the crisp geometry and recognizable silhouette of the original object while allowing the translucent veining of the stone to animate the surface, replacing glass with the depth and permanence of mineral. As with much of the Realism in Stone series, the work elevates a familiar consumer object into a contemplative artifact, inviting viewers to reconsider the role of everyday symbols within American culture and collective memory.
