- Greetings from Roanoke, 2017
Joining the trend of cities with vintage postcard murals, the “Greetings from Roanoke” mural depicts iconic places in Roanoke within its letters. The trend of vintage postcard murals began with the “Greetings Tour” tag team, muralist Victor Ving, and photographer Lisa Beggs, who has worked with over sixty-five communities across the U.S. to paint their vintage postcard murals. Inspired by “Greetings Tour’s” work, the “Greetings from Roanoke” mural was installed by Virginia Western Community College with support from the Virginia Western Community College Educational Foundation and a Downtown Roanoke, Inc. grant. The design was created by Joe Collins, a graphic artist in Virginia Western’s marketing office, who used bright colors to represent the vibrancy of Roanoke.
