“Celebration” by Cecilia Lueza is a figure of a whimsical and playful girl who pointed out the concepts of happiness, innocence, and freedom. The sculpture also celebrated life and the arrival of spring. This piece was featured in the third Art in Roanoke temporary exhibition from 2015-2016.
About the artist:
Florida based artist Cecilia Lueza creates vibrant pieces in a varying range of artistic mediums. From traditional media like painting and sculpture to much more recent resources, like installation, multimedia and mural art. Her work showcases deliberate talent, precision and upbeat compositions. Born in Argentina, she started studying fine arts at a very young age and she graduated from the Universidad Nacional de la Plata. In 1998 she had her first solo show in Buenos Aires. Shortly afterward the artist moved permanently to the United States. In the early 2000 Lueza began to show her work steadily in both group and solo shows in the United States, Argentina, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Check out her website at lueza.com
In the temporary exhibition, Art in Roanoke from 2015 to 2016, artists were asked to blend nature with the urban for the theme “The Natural City.” The show was held in the then newly renovated Elmwood Park for about 18 months.
