‘Beautiful View’ is located under the Wasena Bridge and was designed by Philadelphia-based artist Jared Bader. This mural pays tribute to the Roanoke River Greenway using pastel imagery of indigenous flowers, birds, and fish. The mural also includes depictions of a bicycle rider, a jogger, and a young girl on a scooter. Bader used references of Wasena Park's history when it was home to the Virginia Museum of Transportation. Within the mural, there are outlines of train engines that may not be obvious at first glance.
Artist Jared Bader is a muralist and freelance artist. Bader has been painting murals since 2002 and has works displayed across the state of Pennsylvania. Bader says about his work, “I usually find design inspirations in the history of art and from nature rather than viewing what other muralists have created.” See more of the artist’s work at jbaderarts.com
