This collection features a series of paintings of fugitives. Police mug shots provided the source material. An important part of the creative process involved selecting the images for the paintings. The source images were selected for their ability to provoke an immediate, emotional response. There is no indication to the viewer of the reason why the subject is a fugitive from the law. Their crimes may range from petty or heinous. The viewer is left to make judgements about character without background information. The titles are fictitious names which make reference to crime, the justice system, or morality. These portraits provoke a response without being gratuitous. They disturb subtly, not overtly. They cause the viewer to form narratives based on their intuitive, face-reading skills.
