Living in Sydney during the Covid 19 lockdown I felt like these people swimming in the safety of the pool. The unpredictable ocean is blocked out by the sea walls and they can leisurely swim in the sparkling safety of the Ross Jones Rockpool in Coogee. Whilst painting the water the ocean was free and loose with the purples and turquoise and white of the waves but inside the pool the oranges and browns of the rocks and sand, the greens of the algae and the blue and gold reflections create such a different colour pallete and pattern in the water of the pool. The geometric strong border of the sea wall is slowly being chipped away at by wind and the ocean creating jaggard edges and the dark blue and purple shadows are slowing starting to creep into the safety of the pool. This painting is acrylic on deep stretched canvas ready to hang. It is unframed.
