“aha-Mo!” the prairie individual, welcomes you to the City of Omaha.
The steel used to make this playful bench was reclaimed from the site of the now remodeled Dundee Bank in Omaha. The United States Green Building Council lists steel as the only material which has at least 25% post consumer recycled content. The individual pieces for this sculpture were cut using a plasma cutter; depth was achieved by adding sides to the flat profile of the hand and fingers. The technique allowed the pieces to maintain the artist's trademark stitching detail.
"aha-MO" was sponsored by The Architectural Offices, Paul Konchagulian, Dundee Bank, Werner Paint and Nielsen-Baumert Engineering. It was one of thirteen sculptural benches installed in 2010 along the paths of the Gene Leahy Mall as part of the "Take a Seat" project. The bench was moved from that location when renovations to the mall began in 2019, and placed in its current location along Flanagan Lake Road at Flanagan Lake.
