Twenty-Eight parrots are a type of Ringneck parrot native to the South West of Western Australia, named for one of their common sounds. They're populations are being slowly eroded by the takeover of nesting habitat by Rainbow Lorikeets, which are not endemic to this part of Australia. We're lucky to still have healthy populations of Twenty-Eights around my area, and they're one of our most common visitors. Like most parrots, they chatter a lot, are entertaining to watch and are pretty destructive. They also steal any fruit and nuts you ever try to grow. Lucky they're so pretty!
