test temporis is 180 feet long and consists of laser etched panels and wire horses placed in between each panel. The mural was constructed to represent the evolution of transportation while honoring one of the constants that has stood the test of time – the horse. In a timeline of the evolving mode of travel, test temporis starts on the left with a present day form of transportation depicted in illustrations cut in steel panel, and transitions down the wall to the right to other forms of transportation that may have come and gone.
The running mustangs presented between each panel progressively grow larger, representing time, endurance, and longevity of this great animal. The love of horses as a mode of transportation has continued strong through the years, even in light of technological advancements. The horses are constructed from barbed wire, a material with a history known to restrict and capture the freedom of movement. The seven mustangs in the mural embody the freedom of movement and represent the viewer as they stampede through the test temporis – the test of time.
