Illumination honors the Columbine, Colorado’s state flower, in combination with fireworks as an inspiration, and conveys to patrons of the theatre that they are about to experience something creative, engaging, and theatrical. Thousands of intricate pieces of aluminum and acrylics make up the 600-pound sculpture. The artist describes his vision of the design for Illumination: “I wanted to create a sense of celebration in the Parsons Theatre lobby, a celebration of life, creativity, and a blossoming of ideas."
