Freckles is a simple but intriguing depiction that poured out of me in just one and a half days of work and love. At the time, it was the fastest painting I had ever made, and that unlocked something inside of me to create more than I have ever created before. She started when a colleague at my 9 to 5 wore a fun and colorful pattern. I was a bit embarrassed to ask him if I could snap a close-up picture of his button-up shirt, but he gladly obliged. So, I set out to have something to draw that fun pattern on, and Freckles came to life. She is simple, but captivating, innocent, but knowing. Her sense of style is unique, with golden accents like big loopy earrings, a cartilage hoop, a nose ring, and an oversized 3-Dimensional flower, fashioned from dried acrylic petals, in her hair. I think she looks like she's slightly amused at the secret inner thought she is having about you, the viewer!
