People fish in so many different ways. The young man in this painting is intent on catching a fish and is staring at his bobber, willing it to go down. The young woman is obviously much less invested in catching something. Yet she managed to snag one shortly after I took this reference photo. She named the fish she caught, "Bob."
I took the reference photo for this painting at the Bullfrog Fish Farm outside of Menomonie, WI. They rent poles and bait to folks who wish to catch their own supper.
Pigments used: Transparent Red Oxide (PR101), Azo Green (PY129), Ultramarine Blue (PB29), and Titanium White (PW6).
