Miriam McClung
Crossville, TN
Birmingham, Alabama artist painting on life and faith for over seventy years.
MessageThis piece was done in Birmingham, Alabama, early in her professional career after she returned home from studying in New York City at the Art Students League of New York. It was done during a period of Miriam’s life when she was searching.
It reflects a transition in her painting career from abstract expressionism, which was predominant at that time in American art, to more figurative and representational work.
The predominant use of green and blue establish a beautiful but subdued mood contrasted by the lone flower color on the left.
