Ibis Rising was photographed as the sun rose at the Woodland Wastewater Treatment Plant in August 2021. About three thousand birds were congregated on the large pond, and as the sun rose, so did the White-faced Ibis, heading across the sun towards a day of ricefield feeding in groups of a few hundred at a time. It was a spectacle that took my breath away.
