Calaka Axé. Full-face calaca skeleton mask made of plaster bandage and paper clay, painted with acrylic paints and ribbon, which ties the mask to the performer. Orange V in center of forehead with a blue circle with orange outline. Orange thick eyebrows that extend from the inside edge upward to follow the lines of the V on the forehead. Orange lines coming down from the inner eyes onto the cheeks. Blue and orange wavy lines painted vertically down the sides of the mask. Orange C shapes on the sides of the cheeks. Upside down orange V on the chin, with orange curved lines along jaw. Teeth outlined in pink and dark purple.
Used by Axé Capoeira AZ during their drum processions at Cultural Coalition festivals. These masks are part of the Performance Collection, which contains pieces available for loan to use in community and artistic performances.
