The home of writer Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings where she penned The Yearling, was once a working citrus grove. There are a few trees left of the thousands that used to dot the land. Florida is know for our tasty oranges, but it is still awe inspiring every time I see the beautiful blossoms and smell how sweet they are.
It is by far one of my favorite state parks. Not because it has a beautiful beach, or amazing trails as I usually look for. But because it was also one of my mothers favorites and it was the last State Park that I was able to take my mother and father to before they passed. Therefore it will always hold a special place in my heart.
There is tons to see and learn about there. and the women that do the tours are amazing. They dress in period attire, and really make you feel at home.
