Can you imagine sitting looking out this window watching writer Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings tending her garden at the home where she penned The Yearling> I can!
The building is very rustic and you can imagine hot during our sultry summer nights. But it is also cozy and you instantly feel at home and can picture coming in to have lunch during the day, or washing up after a hard day in the grove.
Rawlings is by far one of my favorite state parks. Not because it has a beautiful beach, or amazing trails as I usually look for. But because it was also one of my mothers favorites and it was the last State Park that I was able to take my mother and father to before they passed. Therefore it will always hold a special place in my heart.
There is tons to see and learn about there. and the women that do the tours are amazing. They dress in period attire, and really make you feel at home.
