Old rusted tools from a old barn @ Little Bow
Linnea’s work consists of, but not all containing; found objects, image transfers, the inscribing and carving of the wax itself. She uses the attributes of the wax, the play on depth, slight transitions adding complexity and deepness within the surface of her paintings. Linnea’s layers a translucent history in her works, creating an illusion of deep perspective; stirring a memory or an emotion for the viewer.
“The dance with the molten wax back and forth embarks me on a journey to the mystery of the 'not knowing'. While working I keep myself in a fluid balance between meditation and examination until a satisfying equilibrium is reached. Not knowing when the piece is done until it is worked and reworked when that journey is complete. The hands-on labor and the intensive process leaves me with pieces that have many layers of mystery and metaphor, with my aim to create a calm core within disarray.” Linnea Martina
