The Texas mountains are high desert, notoriously dry and lined with brown grass most of the year. But in the rainy season, that grass greens up overnight and spends a few weeks dancing and cavorting before going to seed. The pastures turn velvety, and long shadows of summer weave across a landscape embroidered in wildflowers.
